Jaxport COO earns industry certification

Jaxport COO Frederick Wong Jr. is one of eight graduates from the USA and Canada to earn the 2019 American association of port authorities’ professional port manager (PPM) certification. Wong is the second Jaxport employee in the port’s history to earn this industry certification.

PPM is an internationally recognised, four-year programme designed to shape the future of port leadership by providing high-level knowledge of all facets of port operations and management. The programme includes hands-on project based learning led by thought leaders throughout the maritime industry.

“This specialty training, combined with Wong’s existing knowledge and experience, benefits our customers, stakeholders and port community,” said Jaxport CEO Eric Green. Wong oversees Jaxport’s terminal operations, public safety and engineering departments. Among the port’s major initiatives within his area of responsibility are the deepening of the Jacksonville harbour and expansion of the port’s auto handling capacity. (mw)
