Joining up to expand Baku-Tbilisi-Kars rail service
The Kazakhstan-based railway KTZ and TCDD in Turkey have agreed to work together to develop transit potential and a transport and logistics system within the framework of the trans-Caspian international transport corridor, which includes the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line and port infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.
The parties also agreed on the provision of competitive tariff conditions for containers, the creation of a consolidation and distribution centre for the Khorgos-Eastern Gate for goods to/from Kazakhstan and China to/from Turkey.
This year, rail and road transport along the corridor is expected to be four times higher than in 2017. (ben)
