Kazakhstan receives first IRIS certification
EKZ, Alstom’s Astana-based joint venture, is first train manufacturer in Kazakhstan to receive International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) certification, the only sector-specific quality standard recognised worldwide by the rail industry for assessing management systems.
EKZ has a mandate to supply and maintain the Prima electric locomotives ordered by the Kazakh railway KTZ for 2020. At present, 42 Prima T8 freight locomotives and 20 Prima M4 passenger locomotives are already operating commercial services on Kazakhstan’s rail network.
In 2015, Azerbaijan Railways awarded a contract to Alstom and EKZ for the delivery of 50 locomotives to Azerbaijan. (ben)
