KLM upgrades AMS pharmaceuticals hub
Air France KLM Martinair Cargo is constructing a 2,000 cbm cool room at its Schiphol pharmaceuticals hub in Amsterdam, in preparation for the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines. These will be handled by a dedicated task force, as announced last month. The additional cold room, with temperatures ranging from 2-8°C, will provide the capacity required to handle Covid-19 vaccines.
Enrica Calonghi, the carrier's global head of pharmaceutical logistics, pointed out that "this investment will further improve the services at our Schiphol facility. We'll keep improving our infrastructure by introducing digital initiatives and pursuing other innovations to meet industry standards for transporting pharmaceuticals and healthcare goods." (ah)
