KTZ launches direct scheduled grain shuttle services
Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) recently began to operate direct scheduled rail services from Kostanay station in northern Kazakhstan to Galaba (Tajikistan). The route was implemented by KTZ - Freight Transportation within the framework of project pertaining to the rational use and timely dispatch of rolling stock.
Trains loaded with grain will cover the 3,257 km route in around 120 hours. All organizational and technological processes are tied to the fixed departure and arrival times. This modus operandi generates economic benefits for shippers by reducing the cost of organizing transport.
Within the framework of the same project, railfreight services have also been launched on the Yesil-Saryagash and Yesil-Shymkent domestic routes. Cargo will now be delivered according to schedule on the Arkalyk-Yesil-Kushmurun section. (ben)
