Kuehne+Nagel on an upward trajectory again
The logistics service provider Kuehne + Nagel pushed its profit up and restructured its overland transport and contract logistics divisions in 2013. Turnover came in at nearly CHF 21 billion, net earnings amounted to around CHF 607 million, and operational profit (ebit) rose by 9%. However, gross profit almost stagnated and ebit sank by 1.8% to CHF 384 million in the company’s seafreight division.
The airfreight sector posted an earnings increase of 9%, and the contract logistics domain, which continued to be managed by the new CEO Trefzger in person, reported a significant upward trend. The company succeeded in reducing its losses in the overland division to CHF 8 million.
In the sea and air freight sectors, this year’s goal is to grow 1.5 times faster than the overall market, which is expected to expand by 2-4%. K+N would like its contract logistics business to increase at twice the rate of the market.
