Link between Lübeck and Latvia strengthened

The Stena Line shipping line has increased its number of departures from Lübeck to Latvia. Vessels now circulate five times a week between the Travemünde Scandinavia quay and Liepaja, the partner port of the Lübecker Port Company (LHG). Stena Line has thereby responded to the continued high demand on this route. It becomes manifest not only in truck bookings, but in particular in rising volumes of oversized consignments, such as agricultural machines. The frequency increase has become possible thanks to the certain inclusion of the Stena Nordica in the route plan. The RoPax vessel of approximately 170 metres in length, which has more than 1,948 loading metres, had already been deployed on this route as a backup vessel in the past. For Latvia, Lübeck is a gateway for loads to Western Europe, in particular due to the port's outstanding hinterland links by rail and road. (kd)
