Maersk confident about Rickmers recovery
Maersk Line, which has been cooperating with Rickmers for a number of years, recently commented on its current perception of Rickmers Holding. The Danish company said that it does "not expect any impact of Rickmers Holding’s filing for insolvency.
Maersk operates a total 639 vessels, six of which are charter vessels formerly owned by Rickmers. In addition, another twelve ships are chartered by Rickmers. These 18 vessels make up around 3% of Maersk Line’s total vessel capacity.
Beyond the possibilities of compensation of the tonnage if the need would arise, Maersk Line emphasized its "expectation that 18 vessels can continue to operate, under the supervisory entity acting on behalf of the creditors."
The shipping company added that the same perspective applies to vessels of cooperating lines: "The same stability is expected for the operation of Rickmers vessels chartered by our partners in vessel sharing agreements."
Maersk Line is obviously banking on a continuous cooperation with Rickmers. (kd)
