Miami airport attracts new Italian and Brazilian airlines
The Italian airline Meridiana, controlled by AQA Holdings (51% Alisarda and 49% Qatar Airways), will begin serving Miami international airport in Florida with four weekly flights from Milan-Malpensa starting 8 June 2018. The link will be operated by recently refurbished Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Miami will join New York as the carrier's two US destinations.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian low-cost carrier GOL is returning to Miami on 4 November 2018. Boeing B737-MAX8 aircraft will be deployed on the daily flights to Brasilia and Fortaleza.
GOL first began services to/from MIA in 2012 with daily flights from São Paulo, but temporarily suspended operations in 2016. It becomes the fourth airline at MIA to serve Brazil, joining American Airlines, Avianca Brasil and Latam Airlines.
