Modernising the port railway
The Chinese company Rail Power Systems is electrifying the 4km long feeder line and the 16-track pre-routing group at Jade Weser Port Wilhelmshaven (Germany).
The feeder section serves as a buffer between the container port and the hinterland. Up to twelve full-length trains can be handled here at the same time. It is an integral part of the Jade Weser Port port railway, which directly connects the port's freight transport centre and the terminal with the hinterland.
The EUR 7 million construction work is scheduled to be completed by the timetable change in December 2022, at the same time as the electrification of Deutsche Bahn's Oldenburg - Wilhelmshaven main line. (ben)
