Moldova's e-commerce market thrives
Moldova's e-commerce market has experienced significant growth in 2025, defying global trends of stabilization. While worldwide online retail is expected to slow to mid-single-digit growth by 2026, Moldova reported a 15% year-on-year increase in online sales, reaching EUR 463.9 m in 2024, alongside a rise in online stores to over 2,800.
Key changes include a shift from cash-on-delivery to digital payments, indicating a move towards a more modern economy. Electronics, home appliances, cosmetics, and food delivery dominate online categories, with 450,000 monthly users representing nearly 75% of the economically active population aged 18 and over. The evolving logistics landscape features increased courier services and customer pick-up points, showcasing operational sophistication. As Moldova aligns its digital regulations with European standards, the country is solidifying its role in regional digital trade and fostering deeper integration with European value chains.
