More freight through European airports


The European airport trade body, ACI Europe recently released its traffic report for November 2014, showing that freight traffic grew by 3% across the network compared to the same month 2013 (+10% vis-a-vis November 2012).

 

Frankfurt/Main (Germany) with 191,553 t (+2.7%) headed the league of airports, followed by Paris Charles-de-Gaulle with 167,000 t (-1.8%), Amsterdam with 142,879 t (+1.4%) and London Heathrow with 136,419 t (+2.3%). Leipzig-Halle (Germany) saw volumes increase by 7.4%, to reach a record monthly volume of 81,569 t. Hot on its heels came Istanbul Atatürk (Turkey) with 68,378 t. Among Europe's top ten airports, the Turkish facility registered the highest growth rate (+14.3%) in the month under review.
