New China-Iran box train via Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkmenistan, and China want to launch another container train on the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran route early this month (June). The new train will facilitate the increase of transit traffic through Kazakh territory.
The train will take less than 14 days to cover the over 10,300 km route. Transporting cargo by rail on this link will be faster than the 40 day sea voyage, and is expected to be more economical.
The China-Iran-train will run on a regular basis up to the end of the year, according to Kazakhstan Railways. (ben)
