New contract for round wood transport by rail
follow url The Swedish traction provider Hector Rail has been contracted to provide round wood transport services to SCA Skog’s mills and sawmills in northern Sweden. The new agreement, valid until December 2027, replaces the current contract which expires at the end of 2017.
To fulfil the new pact, increased train sizes are required, so Hector Rail will invest in new locomotives that can haul heavier trains, regenerate electricity when braking and shunt in and out of terminals without the need for a catenary.
The wagon fleet will also be replaced by a new generation of cars with a higher loading capacity. (ben)
