New equipment for the Port of Ashdod
The Middle East Port of Ashdod will purchase five new STS cranes for a total cost of ILS 240 million (USD 76 million).
The ZPMC cranes will be used in the semi-automated container terminal on Pier 21 East, which is currently being refurbished to be able to accommodate mega vessels of 24,000 teu by deepening the channel. Of the port budget, more than one billion ILS (USD 310 million) is allocated to the development of the Pier 21.
These five new cranes are capable of lifting two feu at once in tandem operation. They are scheduled for delivery in January 2022. (cd)
