New ro-la train from Mâcon to Calais

VIIA, which belongs to the SNCF group, has launched a new service for truck transport on the French railway network. With immediate effect, a ro-la train will serve the multimodal port of Aproport at Mâcon, north of Lyon, on the French north-south route from Calais to Le Boulou (Pyrenees).

Mâcon will be the first stop on the northern section of this route. The new connection extends the multimodal network that links up UK, the Benelux countries, Italy and Spain via VIIA’s ro-la train in France. VIIA expects to shift about 26,000 trucks onto the railways and thus save around 26,000 t of CO2 this year. (ben)
