Next step for biggest-ever aircraft

Currently under construction at the Mojave Air & Space Port in Mojave CA (USA), with first flights planned next year, Stratolaunch recently performed taxi tests, building on the first taxi test in December. The aircraft reached a top taxi speed of 40 knots (74 km/h).

Stratolaunch is the world’s largest aircraft by wingspan (117 m - 30 m more than the AN-225) and the largest all-composite plane ever built. Utilizing six B747 engines for a payload capacity of over 230 t and an operational range of approximately 3,700 km, Stratolaunch is capable of delivering payloads to multiple orbits and inclinations in a single mission.
