PAD upgrades airfreight handling equipment

Paderborn-Lippstadt (PAD) airport is stepping up its airfreight offers for industry in eastern Westphalia, southern Lower Saxony and north Hessen (all Germany). In addition PAD is banking on "Flexloader", a freight handling system made by the locally-based company Lödige Industries.

The work station, consisting of a scissor lift and five special pallets for simplified transport, is used to prepare goods for air transport. Road feeder services then carry the ergonomic loadable/unloadable ULD, with a maximum weight of 6.8 t, to the Frankfurt/Main hub of Lufthansa Cargo, for example.

Ralf Gapp, Lödige's MD for production, observed: "It is very special when the client is an internationally integrated airport in our region." (ah)
