Preparing for rise in railfreight traffic

The Teutoburger Wald Eisenbahn (TWE) in Gütersloh (Germany) will upgrade its track system on five sections on its 50 km railfreight route between Versmold and Hövelhof.

The German national government and the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia will support the innovation with funds of EUR 553,000. TWE expects a strong increase in freight traffic over the coming years.

The company was founded in 1899 and now belongs to Captrain Deutschland. In addition to the track system, the infrastructure specialist owns a terminal for combined transport in Gütersloh with three loading tracks and a modern heavy-duty crane for cargo handling. (ben)
