Russian Railways augments infrastructure and fleet
Russian Railways (RZD) plans to invest EUR 8.4 billion this year and EUR 897 billion in coming years in its infrastructure and fleet. This year, the railway intends to purchase 839 Russian electric and diesel locomotives, followed by 886 more in 2015.
The company’s 2015 investment plan also foresees an around EUR 1 billion reallocation of funds to benefit infrastructure projects. The measure is in connection with the projected modernisation and expansion of the Baikal-Amur railway line (BAM) and the trans-Siberian railway. (ben)
