RZD boosts infrastructure projects
Russian Railways (RZD) is boosting its involvement in infrastructure projects in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (Brics bloc), according to Alexander Misharin, RZD’s first VP.
One of the priority interest is the Eurasia project. The first stage of the new high-speed railway will be the construction of the Moscow-Kazan section, designed by a Russian-Chinese consortium.
On top of that, RZD has started to prepare a feasibility study on the modernisation of the 575 km Nagpur-Secunderabad rail line in India.
Misharin also said that the possibility of the RZD Holding participating in Brazil’s rail development programme is being considered, and directions for joint work with South Africa are under discussion. (ben)
