Short line railroad reopens
The port of Columbia and Frontier Rail have celebrated the reopening of the Columbia Walla Walla rail line (CWW). The US port owns 60 km of short line railroad spanning two counties and providing service from Dayton to Walla Walla in Washington state.
The section of line between Prescott and Dayton was closed for almost three years due to the need for repairs on eight bridges and a section of track suffering from bank erosion near the Touchet river.
The port of Columbia leases the rail line to Frontier Rail, which operates the line as the Columbia Walla Walla Rail Line. (ben)
