Swire projects boosts its fleet

Swire Projects, the projects division of Swire Shipping (rebranded from China Navigation (CNCo) in October this year) and Nordic Project & Finance have inked an agreement for the long-term charter of six multipurpose heavy-lift vessels.

The terms of the charter remain confidential. The long-term charters include four 12,700 dwt and two 19,600 dwt MPP vessels built between 2007 and 2011. The vessels will be delivered to Swire Projects in December 2021 after completing their current charters.

"We look forward to operating these ships on the market and further developing our service offering in the project sector," Namir Khanbabi, CEO of Swire Projects, was quoted in a press release.

He is supported in implementing this strategy by Matthias Kremser, global head of chartering, and Nicki Schumacher, head of Europe, both based in Hamburg, while Rufus Frere-Smith, regional general manager USA, directs Swire Projects’ American team from the company’s locations in Vancouver and Houston.
