Switzerland: major railway projects on course
Switzerland’s federal office of transport (FOT) has published a status report on the country’s railway expansion programmes. They include the new transalpine railway link (Neat), high speed connections, the railway infrastructure’s future development, the 4 m corridor and the 2025 expansion phase.
The document also provides information about the ongoing work on noise abatement, the introduction of the European train control system (ETCS) and regional projects DML Zurich, Ceva Geneva and the Albula tunnel II.
The report stated that all of Switzerland’s major projects are on course. The Ceneri base tunnel will open and the 4 m corridor will be completed in 2020. (ben)
