Switzerland: new fire engine for Zermatt
Idyllic Zermatt (Switzerland) poses rather a lot of challenges for the local fire brigade. The alpine community therefore invested in a new fire engine in the shape of a Unimog U430 4x4 for the village fire station.
The recently delivered fire engine has been customised in line with the fire brigade’s requirements and equipped, inter alia, with a 1,600 l water tank, breathing apparatus, fire extinguishers, lighting, rescue gear, a first aid kit and equipment for dealing with oil spills.
The vehicle is well prepared to cope with up to 50 callouts per year and protect the around 35,000 people who live in the Matterhorn region. (ben)
