Takeover and extension of Novara terminal
Combiconnect, a company belonging to the Swiss Hupac Group, will take over the operation of the Novara CIM terminal in Italy from 18 October 2021. The aim of the takeover is to further expand the terminal for the transfer of transalpine traffic.
Today, Novara CIM serves more than 60 train pairs per week, the majority of which are operated by Hupac Intermodal, on an area of 150,000 sqm with seven loading and unloading tracks.
Hupac's investment plans for the terminal are already on the table. They include extending the tracks from the current 600 m to the European standard of 740 m, new entry and exit tracks, gantry cranes and a sophisticated OCR system for automatically scanning data from trains and loading units. (ben)
