Tank wagons get link to intermodal service
The German company DB Cargo BTT recently introduced a new rail service between Ludwigshafen and Burghausen (both Germany).
The “mixed” train, comprised of an intermodal section and a section for tank wagons, runs three times per week and is designed for hauling box containers, tank containers, swap bodies and semi-trailers to/from Ludwigshafen.
The company said that use of the intermodal train means better transit times and greater reliability for tank wagon traffic, compared to single wagon services. The Ludwigshafen gateway terminal also offers numerous rail connections to domestic and international destinations. (ben)
