Thai Airways to develop MRO, cargo and logistics centre
Happy Songkran! The Thai New Year was celebrated on 13 April.
The week before, Thailand's prime minister general Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Thai Airways and the Royal Thai Navy regarding phase one in the development of the new aircraft maintenance centre as well as the air cargo and logistics centre.
The project at U-Tapao airport in the province of Pattaya is part of a plan to develop the Special Eastern Economic Corridor, which will elevate Thailand to become an aviation and logistics hub. The airline and the navy will cooperate and exchange information as well as conduct a joint study as initial groundwork towards the first phase of developing the aircraft maintenance and air cargo and logistics hub for the Asia Pacific region.
