Third runway in Munich – dream on till 2023
Bavaria’s new state government has agreed on a moratorium on a third runway at Munich airport. Voters already rejected the project by a narrow majority in a 2012. The scheme will not be discussed again before 2023, which has provoked opposition from the regional and national businesses.
Ralph Beisel, chief executive of Germany’s civil aviation association ADV, said: "It is high time that this infrastructure project, which is so important for Germany and which will not cost taxpayers a penny, is finally implemented! [...]
The extension of Munich airport is vital for Bavaria as a business location and of great importance for the sustainability of aviation in Germany." (ah)
