Amazon achieved its fastest ever delivery speeds in 2023, reaching Prime members on the same or the next day.
To reach this milestone, the company first focused on its regionalised delivery model, shipping orders from locations close to customers. In Europe, the company shortened the average distance each package travelled within the middle mile network by 25 km compared to 2022.
Amazon also augmented its same-day delivery service, which is now available in more than 110 US metro areas and more than 135 cities/towns in Europe.
Finally, the company expanded its global network and access to less reachable or rural areas. Using these strategies, Amazon is looking to reduce delivery times to a new minimum in the coming year. (mk)
