TransContainer launches new blocktrain

TransContainer, a Russia-based intermodal container transport and integrated logistics company incorporated in 2006, has launched a new blocktrain on the 5,500 km long St-Petersburg-Tovarny-Vitebsky–Batareynaya route. The first train carrying consumer goods departed from the company's terminal at the Saint-Petersburg-Tovarny-Vitebsky station of the Oktyabrskaya railway and arrived six days later at its destination - Batareynaya station of the East Siberian railway.

The next train is to depart on 24 April 2014 and TransContainer plans to step up the number of trains to three per month from the current frequency of two per month. The train is geared for hauling the company's ISO containers and those of third parties. (ben)
