Transport unions launch "Logistics Action Days"

From today, 2 October 2025, transport workers’ unions across Europe are staging a week of coordinated "Logistics Action Days" to highlight abuses in subcontracting chains. The campaign, led by the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF), involves unions in Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Turkey and other countries.

ETF general secretary Livia Spera said the sector faces a major workforce shortage while too many employees remain trapped in "endless subcontracting chains" with poor pay and conditions. Flagship events until 9 October in Brussels, Rome and Istanbul will showcase worker testimonies and push for EU-level legislation alongside national measures and stronger collective bargaining. Workplace actions at logistics hubs across the continent will continue throughout the week to amplify demands for fair treatment. (ah)
