Trucks on electric highway
Spedition Bode in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, has taken delivery of its first Scania hybrid electric truck powered by overhead electric lines. The vehicle is a red-coloured Scania R 450 Hybrid. Spedition Bode is the only project partner to test trucks of this type in Schleswig-Holstein.
The freight forwarder will receive a further four such trucks from Scania over the next few months. The tests mark the official start of field trials in this German federal state.
On its route, the hybrid electric truck also uses the 5 km long electrified section of the A1 motorway between Reinfeld and Lübeck. The field trials are financed by the German federal ministry of the environment. (ben)
