Turkish Cargo flies big animals out of Africa
Turkish Cargo has transported three 16-month-old giraffes from Johannesburg to Tehran, operating a connecting flight via Istanbul. During the flight, the big animals, housed in dedicated boxes, were accompanied by their keepers, veterinarians and airline staff certified in accordance with Iata's live animals regulations.
Last month, Turkish Cargo also flew ten giraffes from South Africa to Bangladesh, ten lions (seven of which were cubs) to Pakistan, four elephants to the UAE and three monkeys from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Ukraine.
Turkish Cargo takes maximum care of the live animal shipments by providing conditions that are much the same as in the animals' natural environment. (ah)
