UIC holds 82nd general assembly in Paris

The International Union of Railways (UIC) recently held its executive board and 82nd general assembly meetings at its Paris headquarters. In his opening address, chairman Vladimir Yakunin detailed the strategic guidelines aimed at raising the global profile of the UIC. He underlined that UIC, with the support of its members, has to strengthen its global status and enhance its influence vis-à-vis business partners, international organizations and other parties throughout the world. The organisation should also expand its role in helping to define transport policies at a global level. Another focus for the future is the innovation objective, which has to be at the centre of all activities and projects. UIC has the ability to become a global centre of innovation, Yakunin said.
