Ukrainian Railways plans to electrify track to Black Sea


Ukrainian Railways plans to electrify 148 km of track on the Dolinskaya-Nikolayev route to the ports of Nikolayev and Odessa in 2014. In January-September 2013, the railway enterprise repaired 60 infrastructure objects at a total cost of UAH 76.4 million (EUR 6.78 million), according to Ukraine's cabinet of ministers.

In addition, 23 objects were overhauled. A lot of work has been done to overhaul a 55 m long metal span construction on the bridge at kilometre 244 at Novozhanove station operated by Pivdenna Railways. Work is also in progress to strengthen a bridge at kilometre 86 on the Odesa-Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky line, as well as to overhaul the arch of the Bily tunnel on the Simferopol-Sevastopol line. (ben)
