United joins forces to fly formula

United Airlines is becoming the first major airline carrier to donate flights to ship baby formula from abroad to USA. Starting today, 9 June 2022, the carrier will import over 135 t of infant formula from London, which will be distributed and available for purchase at retailers nationwide and online.

US president Joe Biden last week announced "that United Airlines has agreed to offer cargo space for Kendal Nutricare for the delivery of 3.7 million bottles of the formula here in the United States. And I want to thank United Airlines for partnering with us to get this done — they’re doing it on their own — with the first flight next week, continuing over the next two to three weeks."

The US air force started efforts to help alleviate shortages on 22 May 2022 with goods manufactured in Switzerland. (ah)
