UPS builds new facility in Switzerland

UPS has started to build a new parcel and distribution centre in Bülach near Zurich (Switzerland). The facility is expected to come on stream at the beginning of 2021 and to employ a staff of about 200. The project is part of the overall development of the logistics area in Bülach Nord.

The parcel and distribution centre will feature an operative area of roughly 6,300 sqm and a sorting capacity of 5,500 parcels per hour. This is 50% more than on the current premises in Rümlang, which the new facility will replace. The hub will combine parcel, freight and supply chain services under one roof and therefore offer its customers a higher level of efficiency.

“We are delighted to begin constructing this new facility,” says Michiel van Veen, country manager UPS Switzerland. “With its excellent transport links and close vicinity to Zurich airport, Bülach is an ideal location for UPS.” (mw)
