USA: road haulage industry still dominant transport mode

American Trucking Associations (ATA) has released the latest edition of the US Freight Forecast to 2024, which projects a more than 20% rise in freight volumes for all modes of transport and an increase in the amount of that freight moved by trucks. The forecast describes the current state of the freight economy and shows that the US trucking industry continues to dominate the freight transportation industry in terms of both tonnage and revenue. The forecast predicts that the road haulage sector’s share of tonnage will rise from 68.5% in 2012 to 70.8% by 2024. (ben)
