Vaccines from China and India to Africa

Ethiopian Airlines transported the first batch of coronavirus vaccines from Mumbai to Addis Ababa on 6 March, and handed it over to the Ethiopian ministry of health in a ceremony held in the carrier's cargo terminal.

This project was followed four days later by the transfer of vaccines from Beijing to Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo, via Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services, the cargo unit of Ethiopian Airlines Group, was instrumental in facilitating the flow of medical supplies including PPE across the globe in support of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by deploying its cargo terminal, the largest in Africa with annual capacity of around 1 million tons of cargo and compartmentalised temperature controlled cold storage facilities.
