VDV calls for faster implementation in Germany
One year ago the German transport ministry presented its railfreight services master plan. The association of German transport companies (Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen VDV), which plays a key role in elaborating and implementing the plan, has said that "initial positive steps have been taken, it's true, but a lot remains to be done. The innovation programme for the future of railfreight operations needs to be implemented more rapidly, to make sure that railfreight operations become more modern and can perform better."
The necessary funds have been lacking for this programme so far, with the national government's budget for 2018 and 2019 not promising an improvement. (ben)
