Volga-Dnepr Group won over by Leipzig's investment plans

The Volga-Dnepr Group and Mitteldeutsche Flughafen, which operates Germany's second biggest cargo airport Leipzig-Halle (LEJ), will continue to expand their strategic air freight and logistics partnership.

Both companies agreed this in a memorandum of understanding that was signed at the 53rd International Paris Air Show in Le Bourget. The agreement means a further boost for the LEJ cargo hub, which had just announced its biggest investments (up to EUR 500 million) since the 1990s.

The group will operate both charter and scheduled operations to/from LEJ, accumulating regular and project traffic on board AirBridgeCargo Airlines and Volga-Dnepr Airlines. Boeing freighter fleet will fly up to 20 weekly flights to/from LEJ as from the end of 2021 and gradually increase this number to 50 in 2030. (ah)
