Walvis Bay airport extension progressing well

Namibian media have cited the Namibia Airport Company (NAC) as saying that upgrades to Walvis Bay airport are progressing well. Work started with the runway extension, and is being followed by the rehabilitation of the apron (the designs for which have been finalised), the terminal building upgrade and the installation of a polymer boundary fence, the first of its kind in Namibia. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2016.

Walvis Bay airport, which is said to have the potential to become a leader in cargo handling, currently has daily connection flights to/from Johannesburg and Cape Town (both south Africa) and Windhoek's Hosea Kutako international airport, as well as Eros airport (both Namibia).
