"War like" above, police protection below
Munich (Germany)-based logistics services provider Group 7 has delivered 30 million masks and 1 million protective suits since the beginning of the corona crisis. The cargo is destined for the authorities that are responsible for providing sufficient supplies for German hospitals and other institutions.
Managing director Günther Jocher: “Since the middle of March, the air freight market has seemed like a war zone with very volatile prices. We could guarantee deliveries only because, besides our bellyfreight contingents, we could also fall back on pre-booked capacities in charter aircraft.”
Group 7 has routed its cargo flights via Shanghai to Frankfurt-Hahn and via Liège to Munich. After landing, special police units are ready to accompany some of the products to their point of destination - requiring additional careful planning from the logistics services provider. (ah)
