ZIM goes Alibaba
Another liner shipping company is going for a Chinese cooperation. Reuters has reported that ZIM, the Israel-headquartered shipping group, is the fourth entity after Maersk, Cosco and CMA CGM to sign up with Alibaba.
The collaboration gives Alibaba customers the opportunity to book space on ZIM vessels without an intermediary. The carrier, which is 32 % owned by Israel Corporation's Kenon Holdings, has started the offer on routes such as Shanghai to India and Pakistan, and from Xiamen to Latin America, "according to advertisements posted on the One Touch platform", Reuters reported.
One Touch is Alibaba´s affiliate offering online services such as customs clearance and logistics to Chinese traders. (kd)
