186 containers full of protective equipment for Lombardy

The German logistics services provider DB Schenker will deliver 186 containers with medical protective equipment from China to hospitals in Lombardy in Italy, an area that is particularly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The cargo, which comprises more than 1,300 t of overalls and protective goggles, will be transported by train to northern Italy during the coming weeks.

DB Schenker collects the equipment in Shanghai and Hubei by truck. In Xi’an the consignments are loaded on to the China train for the journey of twelve days and more than 10,000 km to Kaliningrad, Russia, from where the containers are carried by ship to Rostock in Germany and then again by train to Verona in Italy. After customs clearance, the goods are trucked to healthcare centres in Milan, Bergamo and Brescia and other locations. (ben)
