ACT notes moderate trailer rebound
Preliminary data from ACT research show that US net trailer orders rose 25% in September to 11,300 units, up from 9,100 in August but still 5% below the same month last year. The seasonally adjusted figure stands at around 10,000 units. "September’s higher net order intake was expected, as the annual cycle begins to move toward stronger order months at the end of Q3," said Jennifer McNealy, Director CV market research & publications at ACT research.
The increase brings Q3’s total to 29,200 units, 8% above Q3 2024. Year-to-date orders reached nearly 121,200 units, up 20% year to date. McNealy cautioned that weak carrier profitability and regulatory uncertainty could weigh on demand, but pent-up replacement needs and shifting capital spending could support the market. (js)
