Active support for Turkey's culture year in Japan

Today (20 May), the first leg of an exhibition of 186 historical artefacts, owned by Dolmabahçe and Topkapı Palaces, that toured through Japan comes to an end. Turkish Cargo already played a major role as the air service provider sponsored their carriage from Istanbul to Tokyo.

The artefacts were packed in protective materials that shielded their texture and structure and then placed into 56 high-security wooden cases, before setting out on their wide-body B777 flight to Japan. The aircraft did not carry another cargo due to the nature of the operation.

The artefacts, which weigh around 8 t and are of great significance for Turkey’s history, had been on display at the National Art Centre in Tokyo since 20 March. They will now be shown at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, between 14 June and 28 July - before Turkish Cargo takes them home. (ah)
