AFCAC retains leadership
The African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) has confirmed the reappointment of Adefunke Adeyemi (photo) for a second term as secretary general. Her mandate was renewed in recognition of her role in advancing the 'Single African Air Transport Market' (SAATM), strengthening aviation safety and security, and promoting sustainability, inclusion and partnerships on the continent.
In parallel, AFCAC named Getachew Mengistie Alemayehu as director of air transport, effective 1 September. The former head of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority brings more than 20 years of leadership in aviation and transport, including regulatory reform, closer engagement with Icao and African partners, and major infrastructure projects. His experience is expected to support AFCAC's strategic goals and further integration of Africa’s aviation sector under Agenda 2063. (ah)
