AI tech targets bridge strikes
Durite will present two innovations at the Fors annual conference in Birmingham on 23 October. The UK-based supplier of transport safety and electrical parts has developed an AI-powered low bridge detection system and a new 'Hinvii' warning lamp. According to durite bridge strikes remain a costly issue in the UK, with around 1,800 incidents a year causing £23 million in damage and delays.
Durite’s system combines AI camera technology with a national low bridge database and 10Hz GPS to give drivers location-based alerts in advance. Factoring in vehicle and trailer heights, the warnings appear on the connected R-Watch display, allowing drivers to take alternative routes. The system integrates with Durite’s camera portfolio for fleet operators. The 'Hinvii' lamp blends amber LED strobing with non-visible intelligent illumination aiming to enhance visibility of hi-vis clothing, signage and equipment in poor light and weather conditions. (js)
